Miles Edward O’Brien has seen some hard times in Deep Space Nine. This might be one of his hardest times! This week we talk about The Star Trek Deep Space Nine season four episode Hard Time. Aaron and David first talk some limited Trek news before delving into this week's episode. Hard Time really gets the Synthaholics diving into a discussion on mental health, the justice system and the prison system. Episode 110: Star Trek The Disease
This week Aaron and David are alone to talk about Star Trek Voyager season 5 episode The Disease. We wanted to get into this episode because we referenced it the last time we spoke about Voyager in the Nightingale episode. Two is the loneliest number that you'll ever do when you are Harry Kim and there is no reason you can’t be together in the story. He can’t be with his love because of silly 90’s television rules! This is a surprisingly strong episode of Voyager even though it is a Kim strong episode. We have fun discussing the episode and making up silly words for the parts of love! Aaron brings it with some great background info The Disease’s two main guest stars be sure to listen till the end to hear these. There are no borg in this episode but we did have a Borg Queen Martini to drink. You know the drill mix or pour yourself a drink because it’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek.

Episode 109: Ghost in the Shell
Josiah LeRoy joins us to talk about the recent Ghost in the Shell film starring Scarlett Johansson. But before we get into that we talk some The Walking Dead spoilers and what that means for our Star Trek Discovery lead Sonequa Martin-Green. Aaron and David are huge fans of the original 1995 Ghost in the Shell anime and Josiah had gotten to see a portion of it before getting together to do this podcast. We go in depth about the differences and similarities between the original film and this live action adaptation. The discussion also delves into the philosophy of the original movie and how it's changed for the new film. We all agree this movie delivers a visual feast for the eyes so if you have not seen this movie you should see it for the spectacle alone. This isn’t a perfect movie but we all agree it is worth seeing and worth seeing on the big screen! What do cyborgs like to drink? I don't’ know but you should drink what you like because it’s time for your monthly shot of Non-Trek Science Fiction!
