Synthaholics Episode 116: Star Trek DS9 The Jem’Hadar
This week we talk the Star Trek DS9 episode The Jem’Hadar. This is the season two finale for Deep Space Nine and and our first good look at two of the major players for the Dominion, the Jem’Hadar and the Vorta! But before we talk The Jem’Hadar we reflect on our weekend at Nickel City Con and talk a little bit more about our experience there as well.David wildly speculates about Voyager after mentioning the segment you all heard last week with Erin Gray. The Dominion the Vora and the Jem’Hadar seem wildly overpowered and are scarier in this episode then they seem to be going forward. To wrap up we also talk bridge design pointing out the Enterprise and Odyssey have different bridges so it’s totally feasible for the USS Shenzhou’s bridge to look very different from the pike era Enterprise. This week we were honored to get to talk with Nichelle Nichols, J.G. Hertzler, and Erin Gray at Nickel City Con! We got a few minutes to talk with each of them. The Nickel City Con was such a blast this year Aaron was at his table for Numina Comics and David was able to host a panel with Erin Gray. In addition to the celebrities we were able to speak with we also got to talk with people who were working the show and people who were attending the show to ask their thoughts about the Star Trek Discovery trailer that just aired last week. So we got to hear from a variety of people about that and people seem pretty excited even a few people we spoke with that were not particularly fans of Star Trek. Synthaholics Episode 114: Light Bringer Earth Shaker
Voyager is the Light Bringer, Earth Shaker is this season six episode of Star Trek Voyager: Blink of an Eye. Aaron and David are sticking to their promise to bring you more voyager in 2017! This week we give Harry Kim a break since he barely appears in this episode! We enjoyed this episode about really bad science because it let us get to know the planet as it aged and the people that inhabited the planet and how its mythos was build all around the Light Bringer and Earth Shaker! It is interesting how myths and stories form a culture and we talk a little bit how things of old have their place in our culture. Synthaholics Episode 113: The Traveler
This week we are taking the Traveler! This is our first themed episode in quite some time! The Traveler appeared in three episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation over the seven seasons of the series. We briefly talk about the trek news before diving into the myth and lore behind the Traveler and his three fingers special! Ironically both Aaron and David didn't remember the Traveler’s appearance in the episode Remember Me. The Traveler also appears in Where no one has gone before and Journey’s End. We speculate about Wesley's origin and how it ties in with The Traveler! We also talk about how creepy The Traveler seems to be. Are you thirsty? Synthaholics Episode 112: Giant cats and comics
When David is missing Aaron and Guy talk Giant cats and comics! This week Synthaholics goes into a deep dive on the Star Trek the animated series episode The Slaver Weapon. What would you put into a time capsule if you knew everything in it would be perfectly preserved? Lets hope it wouldn't be a selfie, raw meat, and a swiss army gun. But if you did the Kzinti would probably appreciate it. This is one of two episodes where we ever see the Kzinti a bipedal cat like race who is bent on uncovering something to overthrow the federation. Once Aaron and Guy finish talking The Slaver weapon they get into a discussion about Guy’s Star Trek comic the USS Tamerlane. This leads to a segue to a Star Trek The Wrath of Khan and to Star Trek Nemesis! Anything and everything in this week's episode of Synthaholics!
