Episode 296: Star Trek Discovery “Terra Firma, Part 2”
“Terra Firma Part 2” is the tent episode of season three of Star Trek Discovery we finishout out hopefully last episode in the Mirror Universe for the remainder of Star Trek Discovery’s run. We never expected them to go back to the mirror universe this season either. But never say never, right? Georgiou tries to make changes in the Mirror Universe but one person isn’t enough to change the whole tide of the Mirror Universe and Georgiou and Michael end up killing each other. Carl is revealed to be the Guardian of Forever and not a Q even though he gave her a very Q like quest. The Guardian sends Georgiou back to the past of this current time line to star in the Section 31 show that is presumably still happening. Hopefully next episode we will come closer to finding out what caused the burn and what’s up with subspace? Time to pour yourself a cold glass of Ni’Varian Ale, for your weekly shot of Star Trek!

Episode 295: Star Trek Discovery “Terra Firma, Part 1”
“Terra Firma Part 1” is the ninth episode of season three of Star Trek Discovery and unfortunately the 5th episode of this series mostly set in the Mirror Universe. Aaron and David have a love/hate relationship with this episode. This episode was really solid, it gave us some of that great ensemble cast, and “Terra Firma Part 1” is just so much fun. On the other hand it’s a Mirror Universe episode and it takes us away from the overall plot and it’s a two parter so we have next week's episode also keeping us away from the burning question “What is the Burn” But boy do we love some Emperor Georgou being a badass. Who is Carl, is he a Q or is he just some new alien native to this new planet? It’s time to pour yourself a cold glass of Ni’Varian Ale, for your weekly shot of Star Trek!

Book Club Episode 26: Dune Part 26
Aaron and David discuss the final chapter of Dune. Paul meets with The Emperor and makes a power play to get himself wed to his daughter so he can become the new Emperor. But before he can do that he must have a battle with the Harkonnen Feyd-Rautha to the death. Even though Paul marries Princess Irulan for possession he promises Chani that Irulan will never know his love and that Chani will always be his special one. Dune is a groundbreaking work of Sci-fi and while star wars for sure borrowed elements there still isn't anything quite like Dune. Episode 294: Star Trek Discovery “The Sanctuary”
“The Sanctuary” is the eighth episode of season three of Star Trek Discovery and unfortunately this episode puts the breaks on what the previous two weeks had been building up to. Book Club Episode 25: Dune Part 25
Aaron and David discuss the next two chapters of Dune. Paul, Silgar, and Gurney are about to use atomics on the shield wall so the Fremen can ride worms into the final battle now that the Emperor himself has arrived. The Emperor has the next Leto murdered and Paul’s sister Alia kidnapped. We also see the baron Vladimir Harkonnen basically become a completely different character who loses all his brains and cunning. The Vulcan’s and Romulan’s now live on Vulcan and have renamed the planet to Ni’Var. Ni’Var has some information Michael needs to understand the burn. This episode is a worthy successor to the first two unification episodes seeing Spock's hard work finally come to fruition. But will Michael burn Spock’s legacy to the ground? Episode 292: Star Trek Discovery “Scavengers”
“Scavengers” is the sixth episode of season three of Star Trek Discovery and the Synthaholics found this episode rather enjoyable. Once his mother is safe Paul decides it would be a great time to take a three week coma and so he drinks the water of life. Episode 291: Star Trek Discovery “Die Trying”
Aaron has escaped this transporter accident and he joins David to discuss “Die Trying” the fifth episode of the third season of Star Trek Discovery. This episode started off strong with a nice captains log and a brief look at some new StarFleet ships. We see the USS Nog, the Voyager - J, and what they called a new version of the constitution class. The StarFleet Admiral isn't too happy to have the time traveling crew but that's nothing a classic fetch quest can’t fix. We were hoping to see some answers this week as we finally have our crew of the USS Discovery back in the heart of the federation but “Die Trying” has no answers and just leaves us with more questions. Emperor Georgou and her debriefing hold some of the most interesting things said and not said in this episode. We can’t wait to find out what all that is about. Episode 289: Star Trek Discovery People of Earth
Aaron and David are here to discuss “People of Earth”, the third episode of Star Trek Discovery Season 3. After hugs and tears the reunited crew of the USS Discovery and book head to earth. Things are a lot different than they expected them to me. Earth provides for itself and doesn't seem to know what's going on beyond its atmosphere. This has us scratching our heads as to why this would be. On the bright side we meet a young human named Adira who has a trill symbiont inside of her. Adira seems pretty interesting and we are looking forward to what happens with the Trill.Will Adira keep it? WIll she be able to unlock all the memories of the symbiont? The upcoming Las Vegas Trek conventions have to be unofficial. “That Hope is You” featured michels time coming out of the worm hole this week we get to see what happens with Discovery as it comes out of the worm hole. Overall we really enjoyed this episode. What is going on with Keyla Detmer? Is she the latest crewmember to be infected by control? Or does she just have a concussion? Is control really dead? Book Club Episode 21: Dune Part 21
Aaron and David discuss the next two chapters of Dune. This time we are hanging out with the lovely Harkonnens of Giedi Prime. The Baron is very upset to learn his boytoy of the day has an imperfection, a poisoned dart put there by his nephew Feyd-Rautha. The Baron confronts Feyd and tells him to think bigger as the barron is trying to set up Feyd to become emperor. Meanwhile Thufir Hawat plots to take down the Harkonnens while doing mentat mathing work for them. It was nice to get off Arrakis for a bit to learn more about the enemy. Episode 287: Star Trek Discovery "That Hope Is You, Part 1"
Aaron and David are back this week to discuss “That Hope is You, Part 1” the first episode of season 3 of Star Trek Discovery. This episode will contain spoilers. The episode is mostly carried by Sonequa Martin-Green who shows a huge range in her acting ability. While the story is mostly a fun chase sequence. We start off giving some non spoiler thoughts of the first episode before we get into deep spoilers. The 930 year jump Discovery has made the future opens up so many possibilities for where the season could go. It will be very interesting to see where it could go and we do some speculation on where the larger story could go and when we think we will see the rest of the crew. What do you think where this future story is heading? Could the temporal cold war still be causing issues? Only time will tell. Book Club Episode 20: Dune Part 20
Aaron and David discuss the next two chapters of Dune. Paul finds himself inheriting Jamis’s wife and family. There is so much to Fremen culture Paul still has to learn. Harah throws herself at Paul but Pual only seems to have eyes for Chani. Meanwhile Jessica must undertake the ritual of spice agony to the dying Fremen Reverend Mother. Chani doesn't give Jessica much time to think about the ritual before she pours the Water of life down Jessica's throat. This probably doesn't get Chani and Jessica off to the best footing together and the waters of life are potentially dangerous to Jessica’s unborn daughter. Episode 286: Lower Decks No Small Parts

But first we have news that Kate Mulgrew is going to reprise her role as Captain or Admiral Janeway in the Star Trek Prodigy series that will be coming to Nickelodeon. In “No Small Parts'' we get the Pakleds back something David was hoping for since the show first premiered. This time the Pakled have gone from passive aggressive dullard kidnappers to full on raging barbarians that offer up an actual threat to the crew of the USS Cerritos. Luckily Rider and Troi on the USS Titan show up at the last second to save our heroes. This was so great to finally get to see the Titan on screen and see more legacy characters in Lower Decks. Book Club Episode 19: Dune Part 19
Aaron and David discuss the next two chapters of Dune. But first we discuss the sad news that the latest Dune film adaptation has been pushed back until October of 2021. This week the Fremem held a funeral service for Jamis. While Paul says his words for Jamis he weeps and this helps win the Fremem over to him as Paul unwittingly is working his way to the prophesied one. At the end of the first chapter Paul beliefs his mother to be an enemy. This fuels some good conversation. The next chapter takes us away from Arrakis and to Giedi Prime the homeworld of the Harkonnens. It’s Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen's birthday and he gets to kill an Atreides slave in the arena.
