Episode 293:  Star Trek Discovery “Unification III”

“Unification III” is the seventh episode of season three of Star Trek Discovery and we found this to be a well done bottle episode. The Vulcan’s and Romulan’s now live on Vulcan and have renamed the planet to Ni’Var. Ni’Var has some information Michael needs to understand the burn. They will not give up the information freely so Michael evokes an ancient Vulcan ritual to try to forcibly recover the information. This episode is a worthy successor to the first two unification episodes seeing Spock's hard work finally come to fruition. But will Michael burn Spock’s legacy to the ground? Episode 292: Star Trek Discovery “Scavengers”

“Scavengers” is the sixth episode of season three of Star Trek Discovery and the Synthaholics found this episode rather enjoyable. It was a lot of fun and it had some crazy good effects even for Star Trek Discovery. We finally may have a clue to what the burn is but we don't know for sure yet. Hopefully we will find out next week if this week's MacGuffin pays off. Is anyone else feeling like this season of Discovery is kind of like the movies where the even numbered episodes are head and shoulders above the odd number episodes? Book Club Episode 24: Dune Part 24

Aaron and David discuss the next two chapters of Dune. Paul calls for a big meeting so he can murder Stilgar to make all the Freman happy. But he decides to Knight Silgar instead. After Knighting Stilgar Gurney Halleck decides he should murder Lady Jessica but luckily Paul is able to talk him out of it. Once his mother is safe Paul decides it would be a great time to take a three week coma and so he drinks the water of life. We are nearing the end of the first dune book; the final battle is on its way. Pour yourself a cold beverage and listen to more Dune, enjoy together responsibly!

Episode 291: Star Trek Discovery “Die Trying”

Aaron has escaped this transporter accident and he joins David to discuss “Die Trying” the fifth episode of the third season of Star Trek Discovery. This episode started off strong with a nice captains log and a brief look at some new StarFleet ships. We see the USS Nog, the Voyager - J, and what they called a new version of the constitution class. The StarFleet Admiral isn't too happy to have the time traveling crew but that's nothing a classic fetch quest can’t fix. We were hoping to see some answers this week as we finally have our crew of the USS Discovery back in the heart of the federation but “Die Trying” has no answers and just leaves us with more questions. Emperor Georgou and her debriefing hold some of the most interesting things said and not said in this episode. We can’t wait to find out what all that is about. It’s time to pour yourself a cold glass of Romulan Ale, for your weekly shot of Star Trek!

They run into an ornithopter with none other than the now smuggler Gurney Halleck on board. Paul introduces his old mentor Gurney to his new Mentor Stillgar. Paul is ready to start a war, so he releases a Sardaukar captain so the emperor can know that the new Duke of Dune is still alive and well. Episode 290: Star Trek Discovery “Forget Me Not”

Long time friend of the show Natalie Schlichtmann joins David this week to discuss “Forget Me Not” the fourth episode of season three of Star Trek Discovery. Aaron has unfortunately been caught in a transporter beam with poor Franklin.
