Synthaholics Episode 132: Assignment Earth?
Do you remember that time Star Trek did a backdoor pilot back in the second season? David didn’t until Aaron suggested that we watch the original series episode Assignment Earth. This episode centers around this cat named Isis and her human secret agent Gary Seven. The Enterprise some how intercepts their transporter beam while for some strange reason being on a mission to observe 1968. This episode is Star Trek the animated series level of strange! We are thankful there was a letter writing campaign to bring Star Trek back for a third season otherwise this could of been the series finale of the Original Series! This episode has some very fascinating historical events happen close to the episodes release that were hinted at within the episode. Also is Gary Seven a Time Lord? Synthaholics Episode 129: Message in a Bottle
Have you ever sent a Message in a Bottle? Well it doesn't really seem Voyager really did on this episode with the same name. It seemed like it was maybe more like message in a doctor? But that's not the only part of the episode that doesn't make sense. Black Mirror’s new season is mentioned because they have one episode for the upcoming season that is visually similar to Star Trek. Star Trek Voyager’s Message in a Bottle guest stars Andy Dick as the EMH II. There is some great back and forth between Robert Picardo and Andy Dick that are some of the best parts of the episode. Synthaholics Episode 125: The Killing Game with Adam Herr
This week Aaron and David discuss the Killing Game with Adam Herr. Adam Herr is a member of The Geekiverse and we’ve had different guests from the Geekivers in the past. This week is an extra long episode clocking in at just over two hours because we have about 40 minutes of discussion of news and and rabbit holes. We finally get around to discussing the new SDCC Star Trek Discovery Trailer and get into some of the articles that have been released since SDCC. Once we get past the news we talk about Adam’s favorite episode of Star Trek Voyager The Killing Game! This is a holodeck two parter episode where the Hirogen have taken over Voyager and forced Harry Kim to convert the ship into a giant holodeck. Meanwhile the Hirogen run programs where they can hunt the crew of Voyager over and over again. This is a fun episode as many of the hologram episodes tend to be. There are some strange leaps this episode makes and we have fun getting into all of them. Make whatever drink you are having a triple because this weekly shot of Star Trek is a long one!

Synthaholics Episode 124: Enterprise Twilight
Remember the Star Trek Enterprise Twilight where a space anomaly gave poor archer brain parasites that were out of phase with time? This basically makes Archer like the guy in the movie Memento! Without being able to form new memories Archer can no longer command the Enterprise and this leads to many disasters. But before we get into the episode we talk about some of the props, costumes and ships that were shown off at San Diego Comic Con. Synthaholics Episode 118: Wild Hologram Virtuoso
Have you seen the Wild Hologram Virtuoso? This week we talk about the Star Trek Voyager Episode Virtuoso where the doctor gets a bit wild to the point of resigning his commission to be a professional singer to a race that finds him to be a primitive holo matrix. After hearing Erin Gray audition for Janeway on Voyager David can’t watch Voyager without thinking about that. Aaron brings up what it must be like for the doctor where none of his friends seem to appreciate his other talents and skill other than doctoring. So we both talk times in our life where our talents may not have been appreciated. This discussion leads into some thoughts about our education system as a whole. Virtuoso brings up some of the same thoughts and ideas about the personhood and the sentience of holographic beings that were brought out last week on Holograms Gone Wild. This week we talk the Star Trek DS9 episode The Jem’Hadar. This is the season two finale for Deep Space Nine and and our first good look at two of the major players for the Dominion, the Jem’Hadar and the Vorta! But before we talk The Jem’Hadar we reflect on our weekend at Nickel City Con and talk a little bit more about our experience there as well.David wildly speculates about Voyager after mentioning the segment you all heard last week with Erin Gray. The Dominion the Vora and the Jem’Hadar seem wildly overpowered and are scarier in this episode then they seem to be going forward. To wrap up we also talk bridge design pointing out the Enterprise and Odyssey have different bridges so it’s totally feasible for the USS Shenzhou’s bridge to look very different from the pike era Enterprise. Ironically both Aaron and David didn't remember the Traveler’s appearance in the episode Remember Me. The Traveler also appears in Where no one has gone before and Journey’s End. We speculate about Wesley's origin and how it ties in with The Traveler! We also talk about how creepy The Traveler seems to be. Are you thirsty? Synthaholics Episode 112: Giant cats and comics
When David is missing Aaron and Guy talk Giant cats and comics! This week Synthaholics goes into a deep dive on the Star Trek the animated series episode The Slaver Weapon. What would you put into a time capsule if you knew everything in it would be perfectly preserved? Lets hope it wouldn't be a selfie, raw meat, and a swiss army gun. But if you did the Kzinti would probably appreciate it. This is one of two episodes where we ever see the Kzinti a bipedal cat like race who is bent on uncovering something to overthrow the federation. Once Aaron and Guy finish talking The Slaver weapon they get into a discussion about Guy’s Star Trek comic the USS Tamerlane. This leads to a segue to a Star Trek The Wrath of Khan and to Star Trek Nemesis! Anything and everything in this week's episode of Synthaholics!
